Why???

WHY would a publishing company get to book FIVE in a series and then change the cover so that book 5 doesn't match the other four?? I've just bought Jasper Fforde's First Among Sequels, after waiting a loooong time for it to go to paperback in the regular size (not trade paperback size) and... they've changed the cover! The most annoying thing about this is that when it was in trade size and hardcover it had a cover that matched all the others... but they went with a new one when they reprinted. It doesn't match, and yes, that bothers me heaps!

I concede that my doctor may have been correct when she wrote "occasional mild obsessive tendencies" on my medical records...

I'm with you on that! I think all books should be printed the same size so that my bookcase can be organised by genre; subject; and then by author's name and look good at the same time!

I feel your pain Femina! What an annoyance... grrrr... publishers! If I'm ever fortunate enough to get anything of mine own published, I shall revolt at the suggestion, to keep all my readers contented rather than staring at their bookshelves in consternation!

I think at the moment I've got at least 3 different styles of covers for my JF books.
You'll have to let us know what you thought of it. I enjoyed it but it wasn't as good as the others.

I thought First Among Sequels was actually a return to form. It was much more like The Eyre Affair than the others... I thought he started to go downhill in books 3 & 4, but this one was like returning to old friends again. The wit was a bit sharper.

Oh I completely agree with you. I mean how hard is it to continue with what they are already going with??
