Come home, all is forgiven

Shoemaker's elves, where are you?

Nah, you don't need shoemakers elves. You'd just end up with shoes strewn everywhere. You need Kitchen Fairies.

And yes, where the heck are they?

Lazy good-for-nothing kitchen fairies. Probably on leave, on strike, or on an extended smoke break.

I realise that I have problems when the first thing that strikes me is not the mess, but the fact that the mess is on the WRONG SIDE OF THE SINK.

I hope the kitchen fairies come back soon.

Givinya, kitchen fairies smoke?

They're rough as guts, but they leave the floors and benches pretty nice. They swear like sailors too.

What? No, that's the correct side of the sink. I'm right-handed... I hold the sponge in my right hand and the plate in my left, then place the clean plate in the dish rack with my left hand. If the dish rack were on the right I'd have to cross my arm over my body to put the plates on the rack.

You need to train your cats, its the only way. Have you changed your blog design - I am loving the orange feature about you! Hey stop talking about being 40 something. I am 40 something and you are 30 something. Big difference! Plus I dont want to think aobut being 50 something, yet...he he.

Lilly - I changed my blog layout in January! I didn't say I AM 40-something; I said I'm approaching it... not for 18 months, though. Still, when you talk about its approach in months, not years, you know it's getting close.

But you'd have to cross your left hand across your body to pick up the dish.

Okay, so I'm a two handed washer-uper-er. I'm a klutz. And I leave the sponge in the sink, take the plate in both hands to dunk it in the rinse water, then carry on with my right hand to put it onto the drainer. I do super stacking, so sometimes I need to use both hands to balance my massive towers of clean dishes.

It had never even occurred to me that I cross my body to pick up the dirty dishes, but now that I reflect upon it I think more often I leave the sponge in the sink and pick up a stack of dirty dishes from the right and dump them in the sink.

I do super-stack also (I have to; I wash up so infrequently!) but I've developed a good one-handed system.

And I don't rinse. I like to live dangerously.
